6 TEAMS QUALIFY FOR BEIGE CAPITAL HOCKEY KNOCKOUT FINALS
Last weekend at the Theodosia Oko Hockey Pitch, Ghana witnessed some form of shock as Day 3 of the Beige Capital Hockey Knockout Competition came to an end. Six teams triumphed in their groups to book their place for the finals.
In the women’s division, Extinguishers were able to level up their game against Police Ladies in their last group A fixture.
Extinguishers kick started the game with 2 marvelous goals but later on relaxed for Police Ladies to level up with them. Extinguishers, who anxiously needed this result, lead their group with 4 points and 16 goals against Police who came second with 4 points and 15 goals.
GRA (Customs) also went all in to win their final group game in grand style. They stretched the defence of Reformers with a 3-1 win, booking themselves a place in the final. GRA topped their group with 6 points and 10 goals, Reformers were next with 3 points and 6 goals and Ark Ladies with No points and -16 goals.
Citizens, on the other hand, held a 1 all draw with GCB (Golden sticks) to qualify themselves for finals. They led their group with 4 points to curb their way through to the top. Citizens international, now sit on top of group A with 4 points and a goal, followed by Sapholda with 3 points and 0 goal and GBC resting at the bottom with a point and a goal disadvantage.
NDK Financiers proved beyond all doubt that they are in for the title. They beat Veterans 5 goals to nil at the end of 70 minutes. NDK Financiers now top their group with 6 points and 7 goals, Multi-Stix follow with 3 points and 0 goals and Veterans satisfy the bottom seat with no points and -7 goals.
Tema Manhean showed tremendous hockey play, last Saturday, as they nailed Real Ambassadors with just a goal to nil in the youth division. They created most of the chances in the game but had only 1 attempt paving way for them. This means, Tema Manhean are through to the finals with 3 points and a goal advantage whiles Real Ambassador boys have no points and a goal disadvantage.
Young Financiers had already secured their share of victory as they held Tema Youth to 1 all draw game, in Day 2, after 70 minutes and then gunning them down 3-2 on penalty strokes. Young Financiers with this score tops its group with 2 points of which Tema Youth follow with 1 point.
The 6 clubs that are therefore ready are for the finals on the 5th of October, 2016 are:
MASTERS 8:00 AM NDK Financiers vs. Citizens International
YOUTH 10:00 AM Tema Manhean vs. Young Financiers
WOMEN 3:00 PM Extinguishers (Fire Service) vs. GRA (customs)
The men’s division are still battling for the top two even though we’ve seen the exit of Legon Knights and Ark Men. Exchequers, Reformers, Police and Trustees will continue with the quest for supremacy, this week, as we prepare for the finals on Saturday, 15th October, 2016.
