Adisco and Edinaman conquer Central Region Zone 1
Edinaman SHS Girls and Adisadel College (Adisco) swept the feet of spectators at University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) Hockey field after being thrilled with great sportsmanship in Central Regions Zone 1 Hockey finals.
The event, which started on Tuesday, 6th November, saw Adisco, Edinaman (Boys), Ghana National (Boys), Aggrey Memorial (Boys), Eguafo Abirem – Egass (Boys), Komenstec (Boys) and Aburaman representing the males schools whilst Edinaman (Girls), Ghana National (Girls), Aggrey Memorial (Girls), Egass (Girls), Komenstec (Girls), Aburaman (Girls) and Mfantsiman represented the girls. Hundreds of spectators surrounded the pitch with “jama” songs to cheer their teams to glory.
Day 1 ended with the following scorelines

After a full day of hockey action, Adisco, National, Edinaman and Egass booked their names in the boys semi’s whilst the girls semi’s spot was secured by Mfantsiman, Edinaman, Egass and National for the followingday.
On Day 2, Egass won 3-2 on penalty strokes after Mfantsiman failed to utilize 2 chances during regulation time. Edinaman repeated last year’s score (1-0) over National to secure the finals spot.
Adisco triumphed over National by 2 goals to cement its spot in the finals as Edinam won marginally over Egass to repeat the finals of last year’s event.
In the finals, Edinaman’s Augustina Ackon, roared the fans with 2 splendid goals to give her school the upper hand in the ladies final. Naomi Tetteh completed Edinaman’s 3 nil victory over Egaas as she pushed a ball pass the goalkeeper to score 2 minutes before the final whistle.
Benjamin Kwofie, popularly known as “OLA”, was on the lips of spectators as his goal in the final minute, saw Adisco maintain their supremacy over Edinaman. His stylish play robbed Edinaman’s title race for the second time in a row.
Augustina Ackon and Benjamin Kwofie were judged best female and male player for the tournament respectively.
