ALL SET FOR TAP WEST AFRICA
The Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) in partnership with the England Hockey Association will from tomorrow, Saturday, May 28 to Sunday, June 5, 2016 host the 2nd edition of the “Hockey Targeted Assistant Project (TAP) West Africa program in Accra, Ghana.
The nine day program being supported by the Federation of International Hockey (FIH), UK Sports and the Africa Hockey Federation is a four year expansion program for hockey in West Africa with England Hockey supporting Ghana Hockey to develop their participation and performance programs for coaches, umpires and players.
As part of this year’s program, there would be a high performance training camp for the National Women’s Team, level 1 and 2 Coaches Courses, foundation and advance Umpire’s Training Courses in the Greater Accra Region (Southern Sector) and the Ashanti Region (Northern Sector) respectively.
Resources persons to facilitate the program include Mark Jarvis (Umpire Educator) and Darren Cheeseman (Performance Coach) from England and Siegfried Aikman (Coach) from Holland.
In a press release issued by Mr. Daniel Kenaz Mensah (Secretary General, GHA) on May 14, 2016, he wrote that the program is expected to attract participants from almost all the regions in the country as well as a number of West African Countries.
He also wrote that unlike the previous year where the Northern Sector hosted the TAP team for a day, the Sector will host them for 2 days.
The TAP hockey project will be launched on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium (Conference room) at 9:00am
