Blacksticks receive items from Veteran Ladies
Report by Kingsley Boakye
Veteran Ladies have presented some items to the male and female national hockey team (Blacksticks) as they prepare for the Hockey World League this September. The Blacksticks, during their evening training session, were presented with water, energy drinks and fruits to cushion themselves as they prepare for the tournament this Friday.
According to Mrs. Elizabeth King, a member of the Veterans Ladies, the need for doing this is to help the Blacksticks prepare adequately for the tournament. This is also to remind them that Ghanaians are rallying behind them with great support and so they should do their possible best to make the nation proud as Ghana host the league this time.
The National Female Team Manager, Mrs Rosemary Lamptey, upon receiving the items thanked the Veteran Ladies for their kind gesture and promised that the Blacksticks, who are equally prepared for the tournament, will do their possible best to help Ghana qualify to the second Round in Bangladesh.
The tournament starts this Friday, 9th September 2016 and ends Sunday, 11th September 2016. Teams participating include Ghana (Host Nation), Nigeria, Kenya and Namibia. This round is an all play all round with only one team qualifying for the next stage.
