Blacksticks win second game

The male Blacksticks of Ghana yesterday, 5th March, 2017 reversed their tragic defeat against China by bouncing back to score Sri Lanka 5 goals to 4 in the 2016-17 FIH Men’s Hockey World League Round 2 in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Johnny Botsio gave Ghana an upper hand in the 9th minute through a PC but was cancelled by Sri Lanka’s RATHNAYAKA Anuradha in the 10th minute through a field goal.
The Blacksticks came back to score 3 goals in three minutes to give Ghana a 4-1 lead. Johnny Botsio (PC), Elikem Kaakaamotobi Akaba (FG) and Michael Kofi Baiden (FG) scored in the 24th,25th and 26th minutes to give the Blacksticks this lead. The first 35 minutes saw Ghana lead by 4 goals to 1.
The second part of the game kick started with Ghana losing their composure. Sri Lanka capitalized on this advantage to score 2 goals under one minute (43rd minute). Sri Lanka then leveled up the game to a 4 all draw through a penalty stroke in the 46th minute.
With 3 minutes to the end the game, Ghana got saved by Johnny Botsio in the 57th minute, who made use of well composed penalty corner.Match ended 5-4 in Ghana’s favour.
Blacksticks occupy the 3rd position with 3 points whiles Egypt and the China occupy the first and second position with 5 and 4 points respectively. Sri Lanka lye beneath the table with no point.
Ghana’s Blacksticks face their northern brothers from Egypt on Tuesday, 7th March, 2017 at 7:45 GMT whilst Sri Lanka face China at 10:00 GMT.
