CIIS Hockey Fiesta 2018

The third edition of the Citizens International Inter School (CIIS) hockey fiesta comes off this year on the 15th and 16th June, 2018 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium. The tournament which seeks to bring together selected senior high schools across the country, is played to honor Dr. Emmanuel Evans-Anfom and madam Theodosia Okoh for their role in developing Ghana hockey. The tournament was last year won by Adisadel College and Wesley Girls High School in the boys and girls category respectively.

This year’s edition under the theme “Education For All In A Clean Environment – The Path To Shaping Our Destiny” will have 16 schools from five regions in contention. The 16 schools include 11 boys team and 7 girls teams.

Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC- Legon), Achimota School, Accra Academy and Ebenezer Senior High School (SHS) will be representing the Greater Accra region. Ebenezer SHS are the only new entrants among schools from the Greater Accra region. Ebenezer SHS and Achimota will have both boys and girls teams while the likes of PRESEC, Legon and Accra Academy will be presenting only boys teams.

From Central region of Ghana, defending champions, Adisadel College, last year’s finalist, St Augustines Colllege and Mfantsipim School will present boys teams. Debutants Edinaman SHS, Wesley Girls High school and Mfantsiman Girls SHS will present girls teams.

Prempeh College and Opoku Ware Senior High School will represent Ashanti region in the boys category while Kumasi Girls SHS and Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS will do same in the girl’s category.

Eastern and Volta region will be represented by St Peters Senior High School and Agotime Kpetoe Senior High School respectively with boys teams. The two regions will be represented for the first time in the annual tournament.

The 2018 CIIS hockey fiesta is sponsored by Ghana gas, Africa Mining Services, GRA, Australian High Commission, So Klin, Multichoice, Samsung, Fontissue, Nestlé, Everpure and The Chamber of Mines. With media sponsors Citi FM, Citi TV, GTV, Rainbow radio, Metro TV and isports360.

This year’s edition will see both winners and runners-up of both boys and girls division take home a coveted trophy. Other Awards categories are as follows: Best players, Top scorers, Best Goalkeepers, Best Umpire, Most Disciplined Team and Best 2 Essays.

The will be three days of a buzzing WORLD CUP bar where Alumni of participating schools and special invited guests can watch the world cup opening ceremony and matches.

An Official Ceremony on Saturday from 5pm will be addressed by Ministers of State and Diplomats.
