Citizens International launch 3rd edition of CIIS Hockey Fiesta at Annual Dinner Dance

The annual dinner dance of Citizens International (CI) came to light, last Saturday, at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch with both old and new members joining to celebrate great men who’ve strived to make the club exist. This was also used to launch the 2018 edition of Citizens International Inter-School Hockey Fiesta slated this June. The event was honoured by Australian High Commissioner – H.E Andrew Barnes and Deputy Chairman of the Africa Union, Citizen Kwasi Quartey. An all female band, Lipstick Band, thrilled the guest with good tunes for the evening as invited guest danced their feet to the tunes cheering and praising the works of the great club.

According to the chairman of club – Dr. K.D Asante, he noted that existence of the club would go a long way to focus on promoting the game. “We would aim at doing something great for hockey to grow. We’ll do our best to encourage the youth to play more and learn more” he added. He added that club also aims at generating enough funds to build hockey pitches in all regions.

The Australian High Commissioner assured in partnering the club to provide their support in building these hockey pitches. As an enthusiast of hockey he noted he’s open for any support from the club.

Awards were presented to some club members who’ve turned 60 and above, patriotic members of the club and corporate Institutions who supported CIIS Hockey Fiesta 2017. isports360 and other media houses were honoured for their tremendous support for the tournament last year.

Rev. Joseph Lomoo-Mainu officially launched the 2018 edition of CIIS Hockey Fiesta deemed to unearth great talents from various high school students. He said “I assure everyone here that this year’s event would see more than what we’ve been expecting. This year we are aiming at reaching a milestone with this event. We will make sure these talents unearthed go unwasted.”

The 3rd edition of CIIS Hockey Fiesta is slated for June 15&16 with 6 schools both male and female.
