Clubs ready to battle for ‘Presidents Cup’ in Nigeria

Sixteen clubs will battle for supremacy as the 2018 Nigerian Hockey Super league unfolds. The week long tournament will bring together 8 male and 8 female clubs across the country to one location.

The 2018 edition will be known as “the Presidents Cup” but will follow the same format, rules and procedures as the Super League. The winners and runners up will earn a ticket to represent the country at the Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) 2018, later this year.

In the male category, Niger Flickers will aim at defending the trophy but face a stern opposition in Police Machine, IGP (Inspector General of Police Hockey team), Kada Stars, Union Bank and Yobe Desert Roller. Debutants Nasarawa and Delta Force complete the teams in the male category.

Defending champions, Kada Queens, Yobe Desert Queens, Heartland Flickers, Benue Babes, Plateau Queens, River Angels as well as Buachi and Delta Force who are new entrants complete the female category.

The tournament starts on the 25th of August, 2018 and runs till 1st September, 2018 with the Abuja Hockey pitch, the venue.
