Eastern concede heavily to Ashanti
Day 3 of inter regionals hockey competition saw 8 teams competing for the title with remarkable results at the end.
Central started day 3 punishing Greater Accra to record their 2nd win in group A. Greater Accra held Central to a goalless draw but was punished on penalty shootout. Central pushed 3 out of 5 whilst Greater Accra made no impact during the shoot out. They top with 8 points and are followed by Greater Accra with 6 points
Nothern won their first game of the tournament beating Western on penalty shootout. They capitalized on the inefficiency of Western by proving themselves better winning 2 – 1 on penalties.
Eastern, who were tipped to be one of the favourites in group B, lost massively to Ashanti after their captain – Gifty went off due to injury. Ashanti took the advantage scoring in the 4th and 6th minute to break the tie between the two with goals from Fosua Sarah and and Kusi Grace respectively. Diana Boateng (11th minute) and Owusuaa Margaret (19th minute) added their names to score sheet to cement their dominance over Eastern.
Brong Ahafo broke the hearts of Upper East winning 2 goals to 1. Ruth Majaebi scored a brace in the 2nd and 30th minutes to give Brong Ahafo the early advantage. Upper East scored in the 35th minute but that wasn’t enough to beat their opponents. Brong Ahafo kept their composure to maintain the scoreline till the last whistle to win their first game of the tournament.
