Emphatic Win for the Blacksticks

The most talked about Hockey World league – Round 1 saw its light come up yesterday as 3 countries were represented in the Women’s category and 4 in the Men’s division. Countries participating in this year’s contest are ranked in the World as follows.
For the men’s side Namibia is 78th, Nigeria 53rd, Ghana 40th and Kenya 38th. The female teams are also ranked Nigeria 62nd, Ghana 40th and Kenya 29th.
Will this world ranking have any effect on the countries QUALIFICATIONS to Round 2 ?Well We live to see as the days run by.
Matches played in Day 1 cameď with one Women’s match and 2 Men’s match. The 1st match was between the females side of Ghana and Nigeria. The match was dominated by the host nation scoring 2 goals against their opponents. All their goals come in the 1st half by two of the most persistent players of the Ghanain team. Ghana grabed all 3 points with a 2 goal advantage whiles Nigeria sit at the buttom of the women’s table with no point and a 2 goal disadvantage.
In the men’s pool, Kenya came face to face with Nigeria and at end of 70minutes the Kenya Won by 3 goals over their opponents Nigeria, who pulled a goal back (3:1). All goals were again scored only in the 1st half.
The final match was between Host nation – Ghana men and Namibia. The host really gave the supporters a lot to cheer and talk about as they broke the NO scoring in the 2nd Half and scored in both half to record the highest goals for Day 1 with 7:1.
The umpires were on top of their game. Aziz and the other empires managed the game with all their tools eg. voice,whistle, green and yellow cards, and lastly observing free flow of the game, fairness and safety to players.
The tournament’s standing as at Day 1 includes
Ladies: Ghana tops with 3 points and 2 goals, 1st runner up is Kenya with no points and no goals and the 2nd runner up is Nigeria with no points and a -2 points.
Men: Ghana are on top with 3 points and 6 goals, followed by Kenya with 3 points and 2 goals. Nigeria are third no point and -2 goals as Namibia takes the last position with no points and a 6 goal disadvantage.
On 10/09/2016, a lot will go on as the host nation – Ghana come face to face with their 2nd placed team – Kenya. This is the match of the day. Let’s watch how the current World league Round 1 table winners battle to maintain their countries flag. Come let’s watch and support our two counties as they give their best to qualify their country to Round 2 World league next year 2017.
