GAHA MASTERS: FINANCIERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS TO SAPHOLDA
The GAHA LEAGUE 2017 is getting keener every week with more surprises from the Masters division. Last Saturday, four teams battled for supremacy and this was the turn out.
NDK Financiers suffer first loss in the hands Sapholda
NDK couldn’t maintain their winning ways as they were beaten 4-1 by Sapholda last weekend. NDK took the lead in the 18th mintute with simple slap shot from Feehi. Sapholda canceled that goal in the 24th minute by Mason James and then capitalized the game in the 27th minute with another field goal from Antwi Francis to take absolute control of the game before half time.
Financiers couldn’t hold on to the pressure as Sapholda’s, Armah Alfred took an early advantage in the 39th minute to give Sapholda full control of the game. Armah Alfred, again, sealed up the game for Sapholda in the 41st minute to take all three points. NDK lost as the team had less benched men to face Sapholda.
According to the captain of Sapholda, Benjamin Taley, NDK had been an albatross around their neck so beating them made them rather happy. He added that the game seemed tough when NDK registered their first goal but they gathered composure to maximize their chances to win the game after 70mins.
He said ‘’ the winning ways would transcend to other match because we want to win the season’s title again. We are planning to exploit by going outside the country to play some matches.
NDK losing this match move down to 3rd position whilst Sapholda move to the 2nd spot with one match outstanding.
Goldensticks and Multi stix split 4 goals in second game
After losing to Financiers in their first game, Goldensticks held Multstix to a 2 all draw to gain their first point in this year’s league.
Multistix’s Tarley Richard’s, stepped up in the 9th minute to record the first field goal of day. Prathen added another field goal for Multistix to increase it tally to 2 goals before half time.
Golden came into the second half with a rejuvenate team. They picked up their first goal in the 44th minute by Arthur Yoofi who stroked the ball into the post of Goldensticks. With just 2 minutes to full time, Haizzel Tetter marvelously leveled up the game the with a tap in from his team mate. Golden sticks with this record their first point in the league whilst Multistix record 4 points to stay on top of the table.
Whilst the Captain of Multistix argued that some decisions of the umpire shouldn’t have been called and were taken against, David Sowah of Goldensticks argued that he has nothing to say about the umpires decision because he believes in the confidence of the umpires.
David Sowah congratulated his team mates for the game they played last Saturday. Even though they lie at 4th place of the table, he believes it’s too early to dish out the tittle race to another team.
