KNUST COMMENCE ASH HOCKEY WITH SHOULDERS HIGH
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hockey team (KNUST) , last Saturday, kick-started the Ashanti Region Hockey Association League (Ash Hockey) by beating Seniors Team by 3 goals to 1.
The match generated a lot of attention in Kumasi as the game included 2 of the most predominant teams in Ash Hockey. KNUST and the Senior Members Team have been a hub in the development of Ash Hockey.
The clash between the two sides, last weekend, left spectators something to talk about as KNUST took off with 2 goals from Albert Duah and Ernest Karikari by the end of the first 35 minutes.
Peter Obeng of the Seniors’ team came into the second half to equalize a fast break goal to put them back in race. Isaac Ahorklo sealed the victory for KNUST scoring in the dying minutes of the game.
In the second match of the day, Silver sticks took home all 3 points as the Royals failed to raise a team. The match that would have won the day but didn’t come off was Bibiani vs. Unique. This match has been postponed to latter date yet to be confirmed.
This keeps Silver sticks on top of the table with 3 points 3 goals. They are followed by KNUST, Bibiani and Unique in the 2nd ,3rd and 4th position respectively. The Seniors and Royals lie at the bottom two of the table.
