Pope John Senior High takes charge of Koforidua Hockey
Koforidua Sports Stadium on the 8th and 9th of November hosted the Koforidua Second Cycle inter-schools Hockey Competition which had seven (7) school teams representing.
The Female’s division was represented by Sir Duplex and Kwasi Mante of Ghanass , Sir Afriyie of New Juaben and Madame Cecilia and Paa Kwasi of OBOSS.
For the first time in the history of Koforidua zonal hockey, the event was hosted at the Koforidua sport stadium along side volley, hand ball, net ball and ladies soccer. This created a good scenery for the sport and the students who play.
The boys were grouped into three, thus A,B and C. Group A was made up of 3 school namely Pope John Senior High (POJOSS), Oti Boateng Senior High (OBOSS) and Koforidua Technical Institute (KOTEC) with two teams to qualify to the next level. Group B and C were also made up of 2 school each namely New Juaben Senior (NJUASCO) and Oyoko Methodist Senior High (OMESS) & Koforidua Secondary Techinical School (SECTECH) and Ghana Secondary School (GHANASS) respectively.
At the end of Day 1 of the tournament these were the scores from the various groups

Day two started with the ladies final match between Winners of Group A (GHANASS) and Group B (OBOSS). After an intriguing match between the two teams, penalty strokes was left to decide who takes home the trophy.
After pushing all the balls, GHANASS for the first time lost 1-2 to OBOSS with Oti Boateng Senior High adjudged winners of 2016 Koforidua Inter-Schools Hockey competition – Females Division
The men’s semi finals match continued with POJOSS playing OMESS. POJOSS brought down OMESS by 2:1 moving them to the finals. SECTEC fought for their finals spot against KOTECH by beating them 2:0.
This moved OMESS to 3rd place, KOTEC 4th, OBOSS 5th, NJUASCO 6th and then finally GHANASS 7th ..
The winners of the males division was left to decide as POJOSS played SECTECH. The match was fully heated from start to finish but ended goalless. Penalty stroke was left to decide the fate of the two teams. After pushing all best five shout-outs it was POJOSS 3 : SECTECH 3.
The Jugde and the two Umpires agreed on best one each till a winner is achieved.
SECTECH was given the chance to make the trophy theirs but the goal post denied them. POJOSS took this advantage to curb the ball into the goal post of the SECTECH keeper making them 2016 Koforidua Inter-Schools Hockey Competition.
