Saliya Nsalbini wins 2017 SWAG Hockey Player of the year award

Trustees full back and Ghanaian Male Hockey team Captain, Saliya Nsalbini, has been named the Sports Writers Association of Ghana [SWAG] Player of the year at the 43rd Awards ceremony which took place at the Accra International Conference Center on Friday.

The hard working star, after a great performance last year, shook of with great performance last year as he represented both club and country.

The skipper of the male hockey team of Ghana aid his country to place third at the 2017 Cup of Nations. His performance and experience throughout the competition positioned Ghana to make a great impact in Egypt. He also received an award from Ghana Hockey Association when he reached his 50th Cup for the country during the tournament.

He finally helped his team qualify for the 2017 Africa  Cup for Club Championship after placing 2nd in Sapholda Hockey League last year.

On his Facebook wall, he posted”

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my teammates, both at the club level and also in the national team for helping me to win the SWAG Hockey Best Player 2017. I couldn’t have reach this height without your support and help. You all brought the best out of me and made me the best. To all trainers and coaches who brought me this far, I say thank you. You took me out of nothing and made me good. I also want to thank my family for their support, prayers and encouragement. Also to every individual who saw my talent and supported me, both local and abroad. Thank you to all my fans and the media, I couldn’t have done it without you. Not forgetting, a BIG THANK YOU to God Almighty for given me life to showcase my talent. Winning this award for the third time, am most grateful. Thank you to all.”
