SOUTH AFRICA FALL TO EGYPT ON DERBY DAY
It was a day of four regional derbies in the men’s division on match day 8.
In Pool B, host nation South Africa were beaten by fellow Africans Egypt in the first of four derbies for match day 8. It was the North Africans who went back with smiles after they shocked South Africa in a game both sides needed to win to ensure quarter final berth beating them by 2-1. Die Honamas of Germany beat the Red lions of Belgium in another derby by 3-2.
In Pool A, the Red Sticks of Spain beat 17th ranked France in an all European affair by 2-0 and world Champions Austrailia wrapping the Derby day with a win over New Zealand. The Kookaburas of Austrailia beat the Black Sticks of New Zealand by 2-1 to go top of Pool A.
