SOUTH AFRICA SEAL QUARTER FINAL QUALIFICATION IN WOMEN’S DIVISION

After losing to Chile on match day 7, host nation South Africa dented the hopes of Chile qualifying by beating the USA 3-2 to move into 3rd place. In the other Pool B game, Argentina who had already secured the top spot after South Africa’s win made no mistake on their last match day beating the eves of India by 3-0. Although they both lost their games, USA and India still qualified to the quarter-final as the 2nd and 4th placed teams.

 

 

After two successive wins, the Cherry blossoms of Japan were humbled by 7th place Germany who clinched 2nd spot beating them by 3-0. Although they lost, Japan qualified to the quarter-final placing 3rd. England moved top of Pool A after beating Ireland who also secured a berth in the quarter-final by 3-2.

 

 

The last round of matches in the men’s division continues today with Australia facing Japan, Spain lock horns with New Zealand.  In Pool B, Germany face Ireland and host South Africa with their hopes of qualifying in their own hands face top scorers Belgium.
