By P K Acheampong

The Black sticks (Men) of Ghana have made the Country, Sports Ministry, Ghana Hockey Association, their World League Hockey Round 1 sponsor, supporters and the entire sport fraternity proud after the team delivered the much awaited win over Kenya. The team won their second match against Kenya after captain Salya Nsalbini scored a screamer in the 10 minute from a penalty corner. This victory now positions the Ghanaian team on top of the World League Round- 1 Table with 6 points out of 2 matches played and 7 goals,

2nd country is the Kenya national team with 3 points out of 2 matches played and 1 goal. The Nigeria national team follows with 3 points out of 2 matches played and 1 goal. Team Namibia is currently at the bottom with no points and a -9 goals against.

The last matches in the men World League Round 1 will be on Sunday, 11/09/2016 with Kenya coming up against Namibia and host country, Ghana locking horns with Nigeria.

PROBABLES

Now the probabilities of all the final matches are:

Kenya v Namibia

Should Namibia win, then nothing would affect the 1st position even if Team Ghana wins or draws or losses.

On the other hand, should Kenya win and Ghana loss their game then the Kenyan’s goal difference should be 8-10 goals to cause a charge on the log table, Then Kenya would top the table.

For Nigeria to be able to qualify, they have to beat Ghana by 8 unanswered goals.

Team Ghana can end all this probability with a win, a draw and a less goal defeat.

Let’s all come and see hockey made simple here in Ghana as we mark the end of the World Hockey League Round One Qualifiers in Ghana.
